AI Assistant: What Can AI Sidekick Do?

Last updated: March 16, 2026

AI Sidekick draws on three core sources of data to answer questions and surface insights — all scoped to the user's role and location.

Knowledge Base Search

AI Sidekick uses Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) to search your organization's Library files, including PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoints, Excel files, CSVs, and more. When a team member asks a question, Sidekick pulls the most relevant content from your uploaded materials to form an accurate, grounded response.

Course Content

Sidekick can retrieve information from your training courses — including video chapter summaries and quiz content — filtered to the courses assigned to that user's role. This means team members can get quick answers from their training materials without having to re-watch an entire video.

Tasks & Analytics

AI Sidekick surfaces task management and learning analytics data based on the user's permissions and store location. A store manager can ask about open tasks or team training progress, and Sidekick will return results scoped specifically to their store — never surfacing data from locations or users outside their visibility.

Role & Location Logic

The same visibility and permissions rules that govern the rest of Progress Retail apply fully within AI Sidekick. A team member cannot access another user's analytics, and a store manager will only see tasks and data relevant to their location. No additional configuration is required — the logic is inherited automatically.

🚧 Currently in Testing: AI Sidekick is live and actively being evaluated. As this feature runs on new AWS infrastructure, you may occasionally encounter bugs — our team is actively working to resolve them. We appreciate your patience as we continue to improve the experience.
